I moved to California in 1988 straight out of graduate school at Cornell University. I was excited about my new job at SRO Housing Corporation in Los Angeles. SRO Housing Corporation was part of a new wave of innovative, inner city, non-profit housing developers that provided housing by restoring crumbling old historic buildings. My career took off from there, and soon brought me to Oakland where I began working with another non-profit housing developer, Oakland Community Housing, Inc.
Over the next several years, I managed numerous housing developments including the 150 unit California Hotel in Oakland. I soon rose to a position of Regional Manager, and subsequently Senior Portfolio Manager with National Equity Fund, a national investor in low income housing.
I became a real estate agent so that I could put my extensive knowledge of real estate and investments to work for my clients. I also wanted to have more control over my work schedule, allowing me more time with my family and new daughter.
I am a native of Houston, Texas, and have a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Business from Louisiana State University. I earned a Master of Professional Studies degree from Cornell University.
Active in many of the colorful communities the Bay Area offers, I serve on the boards of Pro-Arts, a non profit arts collective, and Bishop Roy C. Nichols Senior Housing.
